Sundridge Park, Bromley

AHP recently completed a conservation plan for Sundridge Park. A grade I listed classical country house on the outskirts of Bromley, Sundridge once formed the centrepiece of an estate owned by the Scott family, a dynasty of London bankers.

The shell of the Sundridge Park was designed by John Nash in 1796, with the surrounding landscape laid out by Humphrey Repton. Samuel Wyatt replaced Nash as architect after the shell was complete, adding the existing exterior domes and designing the original interior decoration.

Various alterations have been made to the interior and exterior of both the mansion house and its grade II listed coach house nearby. It was AHP’s task to chart the progress of these alterations, assess the significance of remaining fabric and formulate policies and guidelines for future work. We also compiled a gazetteer with details of principal historic features – and an assessment of significance – of every room.
