Clare Hartwell


Clare has been with AHP since the outset in 1999 and became a director in 2001. She was educated at Cambridge University and Manchester School of Architecture where she studied under John Archer and Ron Brunskill. Her interests include stained glass, Greek Revival architecture and early modern house design.

Clare’s experience includes listed building and historic landscape assessment for Cadw and English Heritage. Her book on Manchester in the Pevsner Architectural Guides series was published in 2001 and she has revised several Buildings of England volumes, including those for Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire and Derbyshire. She is a member of the Manchester Cathedral Fabric Advisory Committee and of the Historic England Advisory Committee.
