Other work

Apart from historical reports, conservation plans and area-wide appraisals, AHP carries out a wide range of historic environment consultancy work. Specifically, we undertake listing work for local authorities; provide advice for private developers working with historic buildings; and assess the success (or otherwise) of grant programmes for historic buildings and areas.

Amongst our staff are those with experience as conservation officers and English Heritage historic building inspectors, and we offer a country-wide locum service for both roles. We are currently providing cover for vacant English Heritage inspector posts in both Manchester and York.

AHP also provides specialist expertise in ecclesiastical architecture, with several staff having spent years researching and writing about historic churches, and – fuelled by falling congregations – dealing with redundant church buildings. Recent work has come from English Heritage and The Churches Conservation Trust.
