Taking Stock surveys of Catholic churches

From 2005-2020 AHP collaborated with Historic England and the Roman Catholic Church on Taking Stock, a major programme describing the history, architecture and furnishings of over 2,800 churches in England and Wales, and assessing each church's significance and sensitivity to change. We undertook reviews for eighteen of the nineteen dioceses in England, and for the three dioceses in Wales. As well as providing a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Catholic heritage of these two countries, the programme has resulted in a large number of new listings and reassessment of existing listing grades. Excerpts from our reports can be found on the Taking Stock website.
