Service stair in Mayfair town house

In 2019 Andrew Derrick, a director of AHP, gave written evidence at an appeal against refusal by Westminster City Council of a proposal to adapt a cantilevered stone stair in a Grade II Mayfair town house, in order to install a glass lift. As well as being an original feature of a house designed by an architect of national importance, the stair was of high evidential value as part of the social history of the building. The appeal was dismissed, after which the client praised AHP's 'wonderful, comprehensive report' and 'outstanding knowledge and empathy with the house structure and aesthetic'.
