Home Farm, Tatton Park, Cheshire

Home Farm and Top Yard, within Tatton Park, are an impressive complex of farm and estate structures, dating from the late eighteenth to the late twentieth century. Only two buildings on the site are currently listed but more might be eligible for listing. Working with Matrix Archaeology, AHP produced detailed building descriptions along with interpretations and a statement of significance for the array of buildings on site including barns, stables, shippons, offices, cottages, a steam-powered mill, a dovecote, a joiner’s shop, a smithy, and a slaughterhouse. The work was commissioned by the National Trust and Cheshire East Council, in advance of proposed new build and refurbishment of some of the historic buildings.
