Appeals and hearings
Neil Burton and Andrew Derrick have a successful track record appearing as expert witnesses at appeals and public inquiries, supporting both private and public sector clients. The photograph shows Old Haven, which was built as a Sussex holiday retreat by the Edwardian stage scenery painter Joseph Harker. It is a non-designated heritage asset, identified as a positive and pivotal building in the local conservation area. In 2018 AHP represented local residents at an informal hearing, opposing an application to demolish the house and replace it with a larger house. The appeal was dismissed. Client feedback was that AHP's contribution was 'game-changing' and 'played a key part in getting us to this strong dismissal of the appeal'.
