It is now usual practice for local planning authorities - as part of the consent process - to ask owners of listed buildings to demonstrate a good understanding of their building and its significance. This informed approach to conservation is emphasised in the new Planning Policy Statement 5: Planning for the Historic Environment, issued by the Government in March 2010.
AHP's reports combine a research-based approach with building analysis to understand the origins and history of a building or site, including its relative significance and the scope for change. Our assessments may be incorporated into a Conservation Statement or Management Plan, or used as a stand-alone document to accompany applications for planning or listed building consent.
