Friends House, London

Friends House, the headquarters of the Society of Friends (also known as 'Quakers'), was built in 1927 to designs by Irish architect Hubert Lidbetter. The  building has a long neo-Classical frontage to Euston Road, with a massive central Doric colonnade which originally reflected the grand proportions of Euston Station's Victorian arch, opposite. The building, grade II listed and within Bloomsbury Conservation Area, remains in the use for which it was designed. It was listed at grade II in 1996 and is within Bloomsbury Conservation Area.

The conservation plan was completed following consultation with Camden Council and English Heritage, and is now in use as a tool to facilitate discussion between the Council and the Friends about planned future changes.
