Carlisle Castle, Winter 2010

Carlisle Castle, Carlisle

In the winter of 2009/2010 we produced a supplement to the original Conservation Plan for Carlisle Castle produced by architects Lloyd Evans Prichard and AHP, and adopted in 2002 . This time our role - working for English Heritage - was to assess the significance of interior spaces in the 19th century barracks of the Outer Ward, but also to assess spaces within the fine medieval gatehouses and the Border Regimental Museum. The document includes a revised gazetteer and will be used by English Heritage and other stakeholders to inform the management of the site; it is due to be adopted following consultation this year.
