AHP often undertakes analysis of historic areas, usually following the designation of a World Heritage Site, conservation area, or in response to localised grants from Government or bodies like the Heritage Lottery Fund.
World Heritage Sites
A World Heritage Site is a monument, site or group of buildings judged to have outstanding global value by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). There are more than 750 World Heritage Sites globally, including the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids of Giza. In the UK, Bath, Hadrian’s Wall and Stonehenge are classed as such.
AHP has completed extensive appraisals of a number of World Heritage Sites, most recently in Liverpool. The practice has also acted as historic buildings consultant for cities bidding for World Heritage Site status from UNESCO, most recently for Manchester City Council.
