BPTs are charities – usually based in the local community – which have been set up to preserve and regenerate historic buildings. There are around 300 BPTs in the UK. AHP works with BPTs in several ways, by producing conservation management plans, contributing to feasibility studies, and by providing specialist reports to support applications for planning or listed building consent.
A member of our staff helped to edit The Regeneration Through Heritage Handbook, a guide to using a redundant historic building as a catalyst for change in a local community. The handbook is aimed at BPTs and potential BPT founders.
