The block of buildings which makes up the western slice of Regent Street between Conduit Street and Maddox Street appears at first to have been built as a single development. In fact, the uniform and elegant classical façade of numbers 203-221 cleverly conceals a number of irregular plots.
AHP, working for architects Donald Insall Associates and the Crown Estate, provided an account of the piecemeal development of the block, the different architects involved and the reasons why the finished block presented a unified façade overlooking one of the capital’s busiest (and oldest) shopping thoroughfares.
With interior redevelopment planned once the current buildings’ 99-year leases expire, AHP’s report also provided information about alterations to the block, and an expert assessment of its historical and architectural significance.
